Dear President Obama and Secretary Sebelius,

On Friday, August 13th, the Food & Drug Administration approved an early abortion drug, ella, for sale and distribution within the United States.

I urge you to ask the FDA to reverse their decision of final approval for this dangerous drug in order to protect the health and safety of women in the United States.

Despite is description and labeling as a “contraceptive drug, ella does not only prevent conception from occurring; it can also terminate the life of an existing embryo. Women can take the drug up to five days after intercourse, well after life has been created. This makes ella an abortion drug, not a contraceptive drug.

Please don’t be fooled by the deceptive language of Planned Parenthood and their allies. Planned Parenthood says that ella is merely a contraceptive because they and other pro-abortion medical professionals have changed the definition of “pregnancy.” They now say that “pregnancy” only begins when a human embryo is implanted into the mother’s uterine wall, 5 to 7 days after conception. This is an inaccurate definition of pregnancy. Simple science proves that Life and, therefore, pregnancy begins at conception, when the male’s sperm fertilizes the woman’s egg.

Because ella blocks the progesterone receptors needed for the continued development of the human embryo, ella causes an abortion if taken after conception occurs.

Planned Parenthood says this is not the case. However, they stand to gain millions from the legalization of this dangerous drug. They need ella to be labeled as contraception as they know calling ella what it really is, abortion, would lead to fewer sales. For them, it is all about the money.

Make no mistake about it, the ella pill is an abortion drug, not contraception. Planned Parenthood and their abortion industry allies are misleading the American people.

As President of the United States and Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, you have the duty to protect the health of all Americans, even pre-born humans in their earliest stages of development.

Please, protect women’s health and pre-born Life and oppose the FDA approval of ella.
